A mid-tier regional insurance company was running approximately 500,000 active policies on a MultiValue-based policy administration system. The platform worked but it was costing the business revenue, talent budget, and competitive position every year it stayed in place unchanged.

The Challenge

A policy system that worked but couldn't keep up.

The insurer's MultiValue policy administration system had been running reliably for years. Hundreds of thousands of active policies. A deep library of underwriting rules, rating logic, and workflow code. Stability was not the problem.

The problem was speed and cost. New product launches new policy types, new coverage structures, new pricing models required specialist Pick developers who understood the legacy codebase intimately. That talent was scarce, expensive, and increasingly difficult to hire. Each product launch took an average of twelve months end-to-end.

At the same time, the rating and pricing engine was showing its age. Under peak underwriting and renewal volumes, API timeouts and processing failures were becoming routine affecting service levels and underwriting throughput. And the annual platform licensing and support bill had reached $600,000, with no path to reducing it while the business remained on the legacy environment.

The Solution

MVsharp: a phased modernisation with every policy in force throughout.

Prosol deployed MVsharp to modernise the policy administration system through a structured five-phase programme. The fundamental requirement was non-negotiable: every active policy had to remain live and fully operational throughout the entire modernisation.

The implementation began with a deep analysis of the existing MultiValue codebase mapping every data structure, business rule, rating algorithm, and workflow. MVsharp then generated equivalent C# code and a normalised SQL Server schema, preserving every rule and relationship from the legacy system.

A .NET Web API layer was built on top of the converted environment, enabling clean integration with the CRM, BI, and compliance platforms that previously relied on brittle, custom connections. The final phases involved rigorous parallel testing running legacy and converted systems simultaneously and comparing outputs before a phased rollout that moved workloads from legacy to modernised progressively.
