A major African bank operated a vehicle finance system that had run reliably for years on legacy Rocket Software infrastructure. The platform worked. The problem was what it could not do: scale horizontally, move to cloud, or attract modern development talent.

The Challenge

A vehicle finance system that worked but couldn't scale or evolve.

The bank's vehicle finance system was built on Rocket Software, including wIntegrate, SB+, and UniVerse. It had handled vehicle finance operations reliably for years, with years of business logic pricing models, credit rules, contract workflows embedded in the codebase.

The challenge was not the platform's reliability. It was the constraints the legacy environment imposed on the bank's ability to grow. Skilled MultiValue developers who understood the codebase were increasingly scarce and expensive. The infrastructure could not be deployed to cloud, limiting horizontal scalability and locking the bank into physical infrastructure costs. And onboarding new developers to a legacy codebase was slow and risky.

The bank needed to move the system to modern infrastructure without the cost, risk, and disruption of a full rebuild from scratch.

The Solution

MVsharp: database and code modernisation, preserving the investment.

Prosol deployed MVsharp to convert the full legacy environment both the data structures and the application code to modern .NET equivalents, without a manual rewrite.

MVsharp converted the underlying MultiValue data layer to SQL Server, normalising the schema while preserving every relationship and business rule embedded in the vehicle finance data model. The application code was transpiled to managed C#, replacing the legacy runtime with modern, maintainable .NET.

The converted system was validated through rigorous parallel testing running the legacy and modernised environments simultaneously and comparing outputs across every transaction type until equivalence was established at every layer.

Converted the MultiValue data layer to SQL Server and transpiled the application code to .NET eliminating every legacy dependency in a single, validated migration.
